Like any flooring option, hardwood flooring will show signs of wear
over time. The following list (not exhaustive/exclusive) would
qualify as normal expected care for your hardwood floor. Observing
these suggestions will prolong the life of your hardwood floor.
-
Sweep or vacuum on a regular basis
as build up can damage the surface of the wood. Do not use a
conventional vacuum with beater bar head. If vacuuming, use a
wood-floor-friendly head with brushes or bristles.
-
Remove any spills quickly using a
towel or cloth with recommended cleaning products.
-
Never use a wet mop, damp mop, or
flood your hardwood floor with water. This can damage the finish
and hardwood and will void any warranties applied to products.
The Dry Swifter (trademark) or “schmop” are both highly
recommended.
-
Do not use, oil soaps, waxes, lemon
oil, silicon or ammonia as these products can damage your finish
and floor and will subsequently void any warranties applied to
your floor.
-
Keep pets’ nails trimmed, and paws
clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains.
-
Place protective pads beneath
furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents.
-
Exposure to the sun and its UV rays
accelerates the oxidation and aging of wood and fabrics. We
recommend that you rearrange rugs and furniture periodically so
the floor ages evenly. These warranties do not cover damage from
the sun and its UV rays.
-
Use area rugs in high traffic areas
and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.)
-
Do not use a Swiffer WET Jet or any
other water soaked mop to clean your hardwood floor.
